Grey Couch Music #8: Juss Banks In Motion

Grey Couch Music #8: Juss Banks In Motion

By BA Staff

Home of the trip (triphop), neo soul, lounge, and electro Grey Couch Music recently dropped an eighth session – a mix we couldn’t have our readers miss. On this session, Juss Banks, the mix maestro, as almost always, is in mellow motion and cruising.

Juss Banks takes off with the sweet and speak easy melodious sounds of the hugely gifted Gyvus via “Solis Occasum”. The mix’s take off (with Solis Occasum) is a statement. It is pleasurably poignant. It tells you that the mix is not for the absent minded or the scatter-brained. It grabs your earphones, sits you down, and demands your full attention. It possesses the spirit of wonder that makes you wanna take a road trip and just cruise.

The affecting “Solis Occasum” is followed by rhythmically devastating and soothing cuts & mixes such as “Money Mitch” by True God, “ILM” by Boyan, “3k (Dat Thing)” by Loupo. One of my personal favourite mix-cut in the mix is Mary. J Blige (ft. Lil Kim)’s “I Can’t Love You” vocals laced over the great Dilla’s “Life” instrumental. Banks gives a fittingly vibey and dynamic end to the somewhat melancholy and affecting mix via “Body Glow” by Mecca:83. Dope move!

In motion. On a trip somewhere dope…no doubt…Banks is cruising!

Get your head-sets on, sit back, relax and bump the mix below. Or better yet, get on your jalopy, put the mix on blast, hit the highway…and just cruise. Word up!
