Meet Nadine: a dancer with good brains & a good posture

By BA Staff

We first came across Nadine at the Media Mill back in December 2020 when we covered the supacool Fashion Friday. There her moves blew us (and everyone else) away – the kind of stuff that blows doors straight off the hinges. As a result, we pinned her down and had a sit down with her for our ever-so-dope Word Life digi magazine going live on 25 February 2021 (don’t forget to get yourself a copy once it’s live and available). A young woman of many talents Nadine Blom is a talented dancer, model, content creator, and an IT professional.

Fully committed to all her varying endeavours with an unflinching sense of dedication, Nadine is an absolute go getter with an overt ‘can do’ attitude. When we asked her how she manages to make time for all of these commitments and efforts she swiftly responded (in a very assured and convincing tone) “ey man if you’re not really into it, you’ll make excuses but if you’re really into it and really want it you’ll find time. It’s a real challenge juggling all these at once but such is life and I’m not trynna complain.” It is always stoking to see a young person with all that kind of positive energy and zest for life – may it never die. Nadine is many things and committed to many things but what stood out for us when we first came across her and interacted with her dope energy and free-spirit was her moves and passion for dancing.

They say a dancer’s body is her instrument. Those who’ve been fortunate enough to see Nadine at it will know that this is quite true. Her expression alone is an admirable piece of art. Her technique and skillset are mind-blowing. It’s not quite possible to pin down her style. It almost has no definition. It transcends archaic descriptions and limiting contour lines. Her dope moves can be said to be a collage of techniques that incorporate facets of the heritage-rich Stepping and Breakdancing or b-girling and incorporates these with complex local moves with a contemporary feel that speaks both to the current and the future.

From what we’ve observed the major elements of Nadine’s complex dance algorithms are intricate feet movements performed from a standing position, relying upon a mind-boggling mixture of coordination, flexibility, rhythm, and most importantly, style. In a few seconds of watching Nadine perform it becomes apparent that she devotes considerable time to working on her technique and skill, and the style she displays is a point of pride.

A notable performer, Nadine has been involved in many projects spanning over different realms but mostly in the music and fashion spheres – having done work for and collaborated with local brands such Love Luse and Strictly 100.

Nadine is without question a Rockstar of note with so much ahead of her. It ain’t hard to tell – she is destined for great things. We’ve recently set down with her to chat about her talents and efforts in all that she delves into, including dancing, modelling, content creation, and her professional career in IT – and of course, and as we usually do, we took some of the sickest snaps around. Make it a point that you get yourself a copy of the supacool Word Life digi magazine when it drops on Thursday, the 25th. Word up!
